Food banks across Canada that received food from the Calgary Food Bank during emergencies
The majority of people we assist are working-poor Calgarians struggling to make ends meet. The Calgary Food Bank is not a government or United Way agency. We rely solely on the generous support of our community.
With the help of the Calgary Inter-Faith Community Association the Food Bank was created and only thought to be open for a temporary time.
It was created to aid Calgarians going through financial strain during the 80’s recession of oil and gas production.
1 in 11 Calgarians used the Calgary Food Bank in 2014.
43% of our clients are children and that number is steadily increasing every year.
