Mayor Bronconnier kicks off Mayor's Food Drive

Mayor Dave and participating sponsors kick off the 21st Annual Mayor's Food Drive at the Aspen Woods Safeway on Nov. 20. The in-store challenge was won this year by the team from Mix 97.7 and the Calgary & District Dental Society.

Donations to the Mayor's Food Drive can be dropped off at any location of the participating sponsors:

  • Calgary Board of Education
  • Calgary Catholic Board of Education
  • Calgary EMS
  • Calgary Federation of Communities
  • Calgary Motor Dealers Association
  • City of Calgary offices

Pick up a handy pre-packaged food bag at Calgary Co-op or pick up any item off our wish list. 

Ten dollar vouchers will also be available on Saturday November 28 and Food Bank volunteers will be on hand at all Calgary Co-op food centres to take your cash donations.

The Sport Chek Grey Cup Family Viewing Party

The 2009 Grey Cup Festival together with title sponsor Sport Chek, the official broadcaster of the 2009 Grey Cup Championship TSN, the Calgary Flames, and the Calgary Stampeders are hosting a Grey Cup family viewing party at the Pengrowth Saddledome on Sunday, November 29th.

"Our organizing committee felt it was important to give back to the Calgary community and together with our partners are pleased to add an additional event to our Grey Cup Festival with the Sport Chek Family Viewing party,” said Malcolm Kirk, chairman of the 2009 Grey Cup Festival.

Tickets are available at all Calgary Sport Chek and Canada Safeway locations and are only $10 per person. A portion of the event proceeds will be used by the 2009 Grey Cup Festival to purchase a truck load of food which will be donated to the Calgary Food Bank.

24th Annual CBC/Suncor Food Bank Drive
The 24th Annual CBC and Suncor Food Bank Drive will begin on Tuesday December 1st when donation desks will open at the CBC Building and Suncor Energy Centre.

For every $1 donated to the Calgary Food Bank, we are able to distribute $4 worth of food to those in need.

CP Holiday Train

This year the CP Holiday Train will be at 9511 Horton Road SW in the gravel parking lot on Horton Road behind the Brick and Schanks on Friday, December 11th from approximately 6 to 7 pm

Cash and food donations will be accepted on site in support of the Food Bank. 

This year's entertainers include the Odds, an alternative rock band, bringing their energy and full voiced harmonies to the Holiday Train stage for the first time. They will be joined by Shaun Verrault of the Canadian blues-rock trio Wide Mouth Mason.
