Become a satellite LOCATION
Working Together To Feed Calgary
Calgary is a city of a million-plus people with an expanse of quadrants and communities. And within every neighborhood, there is someone in need. The face of the food bank is anyone, anywhere, so how do we reach everyone? In an effort to create a hunger-free community, we must ensure that food hampers are accessible for families and individuals in various neighborhoods. Our main warehouse location in the SE industrial area can be extremely challenging for some to pick-up their hampers. This is where a satellite location becomes an important part of the distribution process and thanks to our community partners, we now have satellite locations throughout the city.

We are always looking for committed community partners with available space to host a satellite location. This allows us to increases the ease of access to emergency food in our city. With that in mind, the Calgary Food Bank will be highly engaged in the satellite location process to make it as successful as possible.

Becoming A Satellite Location
How we will work together
Satellite locations usually will not be responsible for screening, qualifying or booking clients as this is done at our main location before distribution. Even if you are not booking any hampers or qualifying clients, it is important to understand that confidential information will be handled and the confidentiality of our clients is extremely important.
Hampers are pre-built ahead of time and delivered by Calgary Food Bank employees to satellite locations, usually on the day of distribution. Some sorting will be required by the satellite location before hampers can be picked up by clients.
We request that the satellite location organizer supply some or all of the volunteers to operate the satellite location. The Food Bank will provide volunteer training for building and distributing hampers, and interacting with clients.
