satellite LOCATION
What Is A Satellite Location?
Calgary is a city of over one million people living within an expanse of different quadrants and neighborhoods. It is our mission to create a hunger-free community, and to do that we must ensure that emergency food support is accessible throughout the city. Our main warehouse location in the SE can be challenging to reach through public transportation. Satellite locations offer an alternative pick up spot that is closer to home for many of our clients. Thanks to our community partners, we now have satellite locations throughout the city.
How We Work Together
Satellite locations mainly act as a point of distribution for the Calgary Food Bank. They are not responsible for screening or booking clients and they typically do not build the Emergency Food Hampers. This is all done by the Calgary Food Bank at it’s main location. Hampers are delivered to the satellite locations on the day of distribution. The satellite location does provide some, or all volunteers who undergo training around distribution procedures, client interaction and client confidentiality.
