Onboarding Update
We are introducing a new step in our client onboarding process to streamline how you book a hamper. Clients who verify their income and ID will take advantage of certain benefits like:
- The ability to book up to 4 hampers in advance, rather than having to go through the process every time.
- No more questions about your income and expenses every time you book a hamper.
- Access to an online booking link that prefills your personal information for you.
- A streamlined check in process, verifying means that you only need to show ID for one adult picking up the hamper.
Verification must be done in person and is valid for 12 months after completion. Beginning December 1st, it becomes a required step of our onboarding process. To make sure that nobody falls through the cracks, we will allow households to receive up to 3 hampers per year without being verified.
HOW TO GET VERIFIED
We’ve made sure this process is as easy as possible!
- Book an appointment our main warehouse (5000 11St SE, Calgary AB T2H 2Y5). *NOTE: You must come in person to our main warehouse for verification. Once verified, you will be able to pick up hampers at satellite locations.
- Bring the required documents for all members of your household. View accepted documents here. Verification will take less than 15 minutes.
- Take advantage of benefits such as a streamlined booking process and the ability to book up to four hampers in advance. Verification is valid for 12 months.
Hours:
- Monday – Thursday: 8:00 am – 7:30 pm
- Friday: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
- Saturday: 9:00 am – 2:30 pm

HOW TO ACCESS A FOOD HAMPER
You can book an appointment for an Emergency Food Hamper online or over the phone.
- Currently, verification is NOT required to book a hamper, but it allows you to access additional benefits.
- Appointments are booked based on availability, which can fluctuate.
- When you show up for your initial hamper appointment, you will be asked for ID for each member of the household. You must have the original, physical copy of the piece of ID with you. Pictures and photocopies will not be accepted.

ACCEPTABLE DOCUMENTS
Please do not email us your documents. Documents will be reviewed during your verification appointment.
To get verified, you must provide the required information, documentation and identification for all members of your household in person at the Calgary Food Bank main location. Verification is valid for 12 months upon completion.
At intake, the Calgary Food Bank will ask you for your:
- Full legal name
- Date of birth
- Email address
- Phone number
- Residential address
You will need to provide one of the following for all household members who are the age of 18 or over:
- AISH Approval Letter
- AISH Health Benefits Card
- AISH Monthly Statement
- Alberta Adult Health Benefits Card
- Alberta Income Support Approval Letter
- Alberta Income Support Monthly Statement
- Alberta Seniors Annual Benefit Statement
- Calgary Parking Low Income Market Permit
- Calgary Transit Low Income Transit Pass
- CRA Notice of Assessment
- Employment Insurance Benefit Statement
- Fair Entry Approval Letter
- Fair Entry Recreation Fee Assistance Card
- Foundational Learning Assistance Confirmation Email
- Two paystubs totalling one month of income
- Proof of full-time enrollment in school
- Resettlement Assistance Program confirmation
You will need to provide the following for all household members:
- Valid, government issued identification (photocopies and pictures will not be accepted)

PARTNER INFORMATION
Thank you for working with us as we make changes to our client onboarding process. These changes will only be impacting our Emergency Food Hamper program; our other programs are not affected.
Effective December 1, income and ID verification will be required for all Calgary Food Bank clients. To support a smooth transition, clients will be permitted to access up to 3 hampers without completing verification after this date. These 3 hampers will reset annually, ensuring that emergency food support remains available during times of crisis.
