City-wide food drive

The week of September 13, volunteers will be out delivering bags and door hangers. Watch your front door for one!
City-Wide is the Calgary Food Bank’s biggest food drive of the year! For 22 years we have been partnering with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to blanket the city with bags and door hangers to collect much needed non-perishable food items. The food collected helps us fill our warehouse to support Calgarians throughout the upcoming holiday season.
How It Works
If you received a bag and door hanger:
Step 1. Fill the bag with non-perishable food items. See our wish list if you’re unsure what to donate.
Step 2. Leave the bag on your doorstep or driveway by 10:00 am on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
Step 3. Volunteers will pick up your donation by 1:00 pm that day.
*Only bagged items will be collected.
* We will not ring your doorbell or solicit donations. Please do not put cheques in bags.
If you didn’t receive a bag and door hanger and would like to participate:
Option 1. Make a financial donation through our virtual food drive (coming soon)
Option 2. Donate non-perishable food items at either our main warehouse (5000 11 Street SE, Door 7) or the exits of your local grocery store. Hours of donation drop-offs for our warehouse are
Monday to Thursday: 8 am – 7:30 pm
Friday and Saturday: 8 am – 3 pm
Our Need For Food
32% of Calgarians are struggling to afford food and the solution isn’t as simple as working more hours. A recent study (Work That Isn’t Working) by the Calgary Food Bank found that more than 1 in 4 of its clients are working full-time, but still needing to take drastic measures like skipping meals in order to make ends meet.

Frequently Asked Questions
I didn’t receive a door hanger. Can I still participate?
Yes! Anyone can donate through our virtual food drive (coming soon)
What if I want to donate to the virtual food drive instead of giving food donations?
No matter what neighbourhood you live in, you are invited to donate through our virtual food drive!
What if I want to give food donations but did not receive a bag?
You are welcome to donate non-perishable food items either at our main warehouse (5000 11 Street SE, Door 7) or in the Calgary Food Bank donation bins at the exits of your local grocery store.
My donation wasn’t picked up. What should I do?
First, confirm that you are in a neighbourhood that is participating in the food drive. If that is the case, you would have received a bag as well as a flyer.
If this is the case, please call or text your address to 587-316-1623 between 2 pm and 4 pm on Saturday, September 20. Leave your bag out, and a volunteer will pick it up in the afternoon. *The phone line will be closed at 4 pm.
If it’s past 4pm on September 19, your donation can be dropped off at either our main warehouse (5000 11 Street SE, Door 7) or at the exits at your local grocery store. Hours of donation drop-offs for our warehouse are

Why a virtual food drive?
A virtual food drive is an easy way to donate, and it maximizes your impact! When it comes to some of our most needed and most highly distributed items like milk and eggs, we benefit from the power of bulk purchasing, which means your dollars stretch further.
What happens after my food donation is picked up?
After volunteers pick up food donations in a neighbourhood, they take them to drop‑off points across the city. From there, delivery trucks return everything to the Calgary Food Bank, where the food is sorted and quality-checked. Once sorted, the food goes directly into Emergency Food Hampers and out to Calgarians in need.
