Volunteering at the Calgary Food Bank

How to Begin
Learn about the world of volunteerism at the Food Bank by checking out our current volunteer opportunities or contact Volunteer Resources...  through 403-640-8811 or volunteering@calgaryfoodbank.com

Our volunteers are people of all ages helping others to enjoy a better quality of life. The Calgary Food Bank could not operate without volunteers... 90% of our activities are done by volunteers.

Attend a Volunteer Information Session &Tour
Call 403-640-8811 or e-mail us.

Individuals
Individual volunteers can take part in all manner of activity at the Food Bank.

Groups
Throughout the year, groups help to process food donations in our warehouse (sorting donations, packing emergency food hampers and packaging bulk food items).

Seasonally, opportunities may also be available to help hand out food hampers (Distribution) and Special Events. All Group activity is booked on a first come, first served basis and should be booked in advance.

To book a group volunteer opportunity, contact Beth at 403-319-0830

Family Volunteering
Family volunteers can take part in the same activities that Individual and Group volunteers do.

Special Event Volunteering
This type of volunteering can be done by all types of volunteers... individuals, groups and families. The Food Bank events are a lot of fun and are flexible enough to fit in with the rest of the activities in your life.

(The minimum age to volunteer within the Food Bank’s warehouse is 12 years old. Volunteers between the ages of 12 and 15 must be accompanied by an adult.)

Contact Volunteer Resources at 403-640-8811 or volunteering@calgaryfoodbank.com

Our Volunteer Resources program is funded in part from a grant from FCSS – Family and Community  Support Services

For every $1 donated, the Food Bank can distribute $4 of food.
