Tom Jackson concert sold out

Gemini Humanitarian Award winner Tom Jackson performed for a full house at his Singing For Supper show in Calgary. Part of the country-wide musical tour raising money and food for local food banks.

Holiday Train Illuminates Needs of the Hungry

Thousands of Calgarians came out to enjoy the CP Holiday Train, an annual tradition, on Tuesday December 11th.
Melanie Doan and Wide Mouth Mason were this year's entertainment on this cross-Canada train illuminating the needs of the hungry.
Thank you to all who brought food or funds to the Calgary Food Bank at this event.
In Calgary 39% of the people accessing the Food Bank have a job.

Husky
Husky Energy created their company mascot from almost 4,000 cans of tuna (donated to the Food Bank by Husky) as part of the kick off in support of the Food Bank.
Husky and Food Bank volunteers will be available to receive donations of food and funds from Husky employees in their office towers.
Mayor Bronconnier kicks off Mayor's Food Drive
Mayor Dave and participating sponsors kick off the 19th Annual Mayor's Food Drive at the Northgate Safeway on Nov. 27. The in-store challenge was won this year by the team from Energy 101.5 and Calgary EMS.
Donations to the Mayor's Food Drive can be dropped off at any location of the participating sponsors:

TransAlta Retirees harvest 25,000 pounds of vegetables for
Food Bank
The TransAlta POWER Retiree group harvests the garden they planted on behalf of the Calgary Food Bank. This is the 9th year they have planted a garden on our behalf, the harvest yielded 25,390 lbs of potatoes, beets, onions, carrots and parsnips.

Saturday, September 15, City-wide Food Drive

The City-wide Food Drive on Saturday September 15th collected more than 362,000 pounds of food from across the city. [ 2007 video ]
This food drive is such an amazing success thanks to the efforts and donations of thousands of Calgarians. Thanks to the 7,000 volunteers from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who collected the food from more than 360,000 homes, the transportation companies who donated their trucks to move the food to the food bank, the forklift companies and donated trucks to move the forklifts.
