For every $1 donated,
we are able to distribute $4 worth of food
to those in need.

Through donated food and the purchase of "guaranteed content" when donations are low, every $1 donated to the Food Bank distributes $4 worth of food to those in need.

Last year $20 million dollars worth of food was distributed to

  • 124,713 clients directly through Emergency Food Hampers;
  • 14,254 Hampers for the Homeless;
  • 94 other Calgary charities; and
  • 26 food banks in south and central Alberta.

The Calgary Food Bank’s Emergency Food Hampers are nutritionally balanced based on Canada's Food Guide. Sometimes this means we buy “guaranteed items” like milk, eggs and ground beef. These items combined with donated food provide very economical, nutritious food for those experiencing a crisis.

Other Food Bank programs for those experiencing a crisis:

  • Emergency Food Hampers
  • Baby & Prenatal Hampers
  • Hampers for the Homeless
  • BP Food Link Program
  • Macleod Dixon Milk for Teens Program
  • Regional Food Distribution
  • Children’s Milk Program

80 to 100 volunteers every day help feed the hungry at the Food Bank.

For every $1 donated, the Food Bank can distribute $4 of food.
