The Impact of Every Donation

It is not just the leverage you enable - distributing $4 worth of food for every $1 donated... it is the bredth and depth of the impact your donation makes in our community.

Clients
  • 124,713 Calgarians fed through Emergency Food Hampers. Over 85% of clients came to us three or fewer times.
  • 41% of these people are children.
  • 15,607 of these people were referred to the Food Bank by partner agencies.
  • We provided 9,825 families and individuals with referrals to over 262 community agencies to address the underlying causes of their need for food.
Programs
  • Emergency Food Hamper Program: distributed 49,054 food hampers (an average of 222 per day).
  • Hampers for the Homeless Program: 14,254 food hampers were distributed to those living with inadequate housing.
  • Regional Food Distribution: 3.7 million pounds of food was distributed to 26 food banks in south and central Alberta. (note: all the food distributed through this program comes from the food industry - it is not donated food from individual Calgarians.)
  • BP Food Link Program: 2.6 million pounds of food was distributed to 94 Calgary agencies (including women's shelters, children and youth programs, community health care, community resource centres, emergency housing, and more)
  • Children’s Milk Program: 57,342 litres of milk and 2,346 containers of infant formula were distributed to 800 homes. Children received fresh milk through 6,665 individual deliveries by the refrigerated Moo Juice Van.
Volunteers
  • 80 - 100 people volunteer per day.
  • 4,074 individual and group volunteers gave an incredible 93,201 hours.
Resources
  • The Calgary Food Bank distributed $20 million worth of quality emergency food with $4.3 million in funds.
  • For every $1 donated we can distribute $4 worth of food to those in need.
  • We are neither a government nor United Way agency.

For every $1 donated, the Food Bank can distribute $4 of food.
