Put The Boots To Hunger

Together, we are putting our best boot forward and working to create a hunger-free community.

The Put the Boots to Hunger™ campaign raises important food and funds for the Calgary Food Bank through the Stampede season, at a time when it is typically slower for donations. This campaign is comprised of two initiatives to help feed Calgarians in need, community events and the donation of the of Burnet Duckworth & Palmer LLP’s (BD&P) chuckwagon tarp of GMC Rangeland Derby driver Logan Gorst.

This year, the campaign raised nearly $272,000 in food and funds. A huge thank you to our community partners who sponsored the BD&P Chuckwagon tarp, or hosted a Stampede breakfast or BBQ to help boot hunger this summer. Over the last decade, thanks to the generous support of the Calgary Community, the campaign has raised more than $4.1 million dollars in food and funds to help feed families and individuals in crisis over the summer months.

BD&P Put the Boots to Hunger Chuckwagon Tarp

Pivotal to the success of the Put the Boots to Hunger™ campaign is the donation of Burnet Duckworth & Palmer LLP (BD&P)’s chuckwagon tarp to the Calgary Food Bank, where each night a different business sponsors the BD&P Put the Boots to Hunger chuckwagon tarp.

This year, BD&P secured GMC Rangeland Derby driver Logan Gorst to raise the BD&P Put the Boots to Hunger flag during the 2017 Calgary Stampede. Logan had a busy 10 days of Chuckwagon racing, heading into Sunday’s finals, Logan was sitting in first place. Even though he fell short of winning the top spot, he placed fourth in the final run. We are proud of his performance throughout Stampede and as an ambassador for the Calgary Food Bank. Overall, Logan placed second in the Stampede 2017 Aggregate and is currently in eighth place in the WPCA 2017 World Standings.

Is the Angus Cattle Run happening this July?

We wanted to take this opportunity to thank all Angus Cattle Run donors, volunteers, participants and sponsors for your generous support of this fun run and fundraiser. Since 2013, you have helped to raise over $44,000 in support of the Children’s Milk Program at the Calgary Food Bank. Unfortunately due to extenuating circumstances, we are postponing this July’s Angus Cattle Run. But we have plans for the popular winter run, the 2017 Amble for Angus and look forward to seeing you in December!
