Mayor's Food Drive Kick-off 2013

On Friday, November 22, members of the community, media, and corporate Calgary all came out for some (fierce!) friendly competition for a good cause.

The 25th annual Mayor’s Food Drive, which was kicked off at Whitehorn Safeway, had competitors collect most-needed Food Bank items and build some very elaborate snowmen (complete with props!) out of them. All of the food collected was donated to the Food Bank, as well as nearly $1000.00.

Mayor Naheed Nenshi was also on hand to cheer on and heckle the teams, with victory (and a golden shopping cart!) going to the team comprised of CTV Calgary, Country 105, and Calgary & District Dental Society. Check out our photos from the event.

Calgary radio personality Beesley was on hand.

One of the snowmen was a hockey player.
