Emma and the Food Bank - Our own original children's book
Emma and the Food Bank is a new children's book from the Calgary Food Bank that will delight children, parents and grandparents. The book's story centres around Emma, who discovers what a food bank does to help others. This encourages her to think of other ways she can make a difference. Written by our very own long-time volunteer, Sue McLure, and illustrated by the talented Val Lawton, Emma and the Food Bank is a keepsake for the whole family!
A volunteer called us the other day and told us her grandson was inspired to hold a food drive at his own birthday party. The young boy, now seven years old, asked his friends to bring a donation for the food bank, and at the end of the party he proudly announced he would be donating 15 dollars to the Food Bank. Each of his family members, and his friends' parents all agreed to match the 15 dollar donation. The birthday boy said he was inspired by Emma in the book, and that is one of his favourites to read.
Emma and the Food Bank is available at the Calgary Food Bank for only $10 including GST. Pick one or two up during office hours, or call us with a credit card at 403.253.2059
