September is always a tough time of year with increasing heating bills, and of course back to school. Even without the troubles caused by the economy or sky high housing costs. Demand at the Food Bank begins to increase as many families find they need emergency food support.
For 12 years thousands of family and youth volunteers come together on one week in September to deliver hundreds of thousands of donation bags to the front doors of Calgarians in 198 neighbourhoods. Generous Calgarians across the city fill those bags with healthy, nutritional, and much needed non-perishable food to be picked up by the volunteers.
Watch for a donation bag on your door starting Monday September 12th, delivered by an amazing volunteer. Please fill it with non-perishable food, leave it on your front porch. All the bags will be collected on Saturday September 17th and brought to the Calgary Food Bank.
We keep an updated Wishlist if you are wondering what food items are needed the most right now.
Thank you so much to everyone that donates and to the amazing volunteers that consistently make this annual event such a success.
