Money raised with this year's Empty Bowl Benefit
Over our target goal
A special thanks to all participants for their immense creativity and the intense time commitment they gave to create these masterpieces. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither was Käthe Lemon’s meticulously detialed Cherry Bowl or Christina Rowsell’s incredibly accurate paint splatter in the Growth Bowl; from the elegant pointillism of Jocelynn Laidlaw’s Spa Bowl to delicate detail of My Daughter’s Bowl by Carlos Cuevas, this year’s bowls reflect the creativity of our 38 painters and their commitment to fighting hunger in our community.
All extra prizes that came with them, whether they were concert tickets, gift certificates and even helicopter rides, weekend car rentals and even and all-expenses-paid weekend in Banff, were donated generously by the painters.
At the end of the week-long auction, we raised $9,680 for the Calgary Food Bank, 280% of our original goal of $3,500. Lastly, congratulations to bowl winners who will surely be filing in any minute now to claim their spoils of war.
